Adam heard a muffled cry from the bathroom upstairs. Dropping his stuff, he sprinted up the stairs and stood by the door for a bit. “S-Sam, you’re in here, right?” No words were returned. “Sam. Sam, I know you’re in here, open the door, please.”
When did he get here? Sam thought. I didn’t hear the door. Usually he isn’t home for another twenty minutes. I thought… I thought I was safe. With a sharp inhale, Sam said, “No, Adam, go away. I don’t want you to see this.”
