It has been ten years since the White Martian Invasion and the formation of the League of Nations. Queen Lara is preparing to finally step down, and pass the crown to Prince Kal.
Prince Bruce has spent much of his time traveling abroad, returning to Gotham Castle intermittently for months or years at a time before venturing back out into the world.
This time is different. This time, he’s returning for an extended stay.

Summary
The first time Alastor saw Lucifer, they were 16, and he fell hard. When he begins to follow the boy - just to get to know him, just to keep him happy, promise - he discovers Lucifer lives in an abusive home. That just won't do. One murder later, and his love is being shipped across the country to live with some other relative just to get away from the killer lurking in the bayou.
Seven years later, a chance magazine article about the up-and-coming Lucifer Morningstar tells Alastor exactly where to find his long lost love. He moves across the country to be with him, only to find Lucifer has a wife who hates him and a daughter who looks just like him.
Well. Alastor had been considering a family with Lucifer anyway. He just needs to see what he can do about this wife.

Summary
Lucifer doesn’t know how much time has passed since he last saw his little girl. His world has been confined to the glass cage holding him, the room it was kept in, and the moments when his captors would visit and force him to create whatever they needed for their plans. They were very careful to keep a tight hold on his leash; they didn’t want to lose access to the “rare, all-powerful phoenix” after all. Fuckers.
The point was he was stuck in who-knows-where for who-knows-how long and losing hope for escape, let alone reuniting with Charlie.
“Hm, I would’ve expected a phoenix to be a bit more… red. How disappointing.”
Then HE showed up.

Summary
Alastor looked so human and lost in this moment. Lucifer couldn't deny it was appealing, especially considering who he was dealing with. The idea of taming Alastor gave him a clenching thrill that he would be very happy to leave unanalyzed. His grip on Alastor’s coat tightened. The through-line of Lucifer’s life was to make impulsive, emotional decisions and to stew in the agony of the aftermath for the rest of his existence. Why stop now?
“Let me try something,” Lucifer said softly.
-An attempt on Lucifer's part to make nice with Alastor leads to late night rambling metaphors, kissing on a couch, and learning a few new things about themselves.
