“I… yes?” Shane groaned miserably into his hands. Ilya stood and moved towards his obviously very distressed husband in record time. “Was a reminder on my phone. It just popped up. What is wrong?”
His husband heaved out a tired sigh then held up his phone. A message from the Centaur group chat was on the screen.
“Tonight’s guys night at Chouinard’s.”
Ilya blinked. Oh, fuck.Ilya and Shane are the first ever hockey players to also both be WAGs. This causes some unintended issues.

Sam’s sweet. That’s the only way she can describe him. He’s earnest in such a genuine, authentic way that it almost knocks her off her feet. He looks at her, eyes glimmering with adoration, and she can’t help but melt under his gaze. He’s romantic in his own bumbling, inexperienced way, cautious and tentative in his usual timid way but he’s also bright grins and surprise snacks when she’s too deep into studying and gentle kisses to her neck while they’re cuddling in bed.
He’s sweet and he’s caring and he’s thoughtful and he’s unbelievable. Like, sometimes she can’t even believe he’s real.

Scott watched as Hollander leaned in, further, to hear Rozanov. This was the part that didn’t entirely make sense to him. The missing piece of something that felt like it was just beyond his reach. This was quiet ease and small moments of comfort and a look that makes the rest of the world fade away. This was how he felt with Kip.
Scott stilled.
It was as if someone had whispered it in his ear. It was as if the final piece of this insane, deranged puzzle finally clicked into place. His heart was pounding in his ears. He was probably wrong. In fact he was entirely wrong. This wasn’t like him and Kip. It couldn’t be Kip. Scott had been watching too many romantic comedies. His head was in the clouds.
But they weren’t touching.
Hollander and Rozanov were as close as they could be, without laying a single finger on one another. They were specifically, rigidly, separate. The warmth between them was bridled. Entirely. And this, Scott realized, his heart sinking into the floor, was also how he had felt with Kip.
Oh. Oh fuck.

Hayden’s eyes flickered to Shane, who he sat on the bench, chewing on the edge of his mouth guard.
“Don’t fucking look at him,” Ilya insisted as he bent down for the faceoff.
“Excuse me?” Hayden mumbled, eyes darting back to him.
“You heard me,” he retorted, his tone clipped. “He’s not your teammate anymore; he’s mine. If you think Marlow is a problem to your game, wait until you see what I will do to your team if you hurt anyone on mine again.”
Hayden scoffed, dipping his head as he tried to focus on the game. Something about Ilya’s words still rang through his head though, sounding so definitive that he didn’t want to risk seeing what he was actually referring to when he said that.
The puck dropped again, and Ilya stole it before he could comprehend how quickly it happened.
